IKARIA, a small island at the eastern part of Aegean Sea with just 7000 inhabitants, all of a sudden became world famous. The reason is that it belongs to the five regions of the world, the so-called BLUE ZONES, where residents live much longer than average. This longevity has been associated with the Ikarian way of life, its gastronomy and the indulgence of local wine, known since the times of Homer. In August 2023 a NETFLIX documentary tried to explain the reasons of the longevity and attracted worldwide attention. Soon afterwards, LONELY PLANET ranked it in the top-10 places to visit in 2024!
